Project report:

This project took place in lovely city of Putignano in southern Italy. As the name indicates, it was about food. The main activities contained some cooking workshops as well as some tours around the region.

The weather was unfortunately very spring-like and for the bigger part of the project, it was windy and rainy. That didn’t stop us from having fun though! We met quite amazing people on the project and enjoyed a lot of laugh.

Our team, along with the spanish and bulgarian ones, stayed in a lovely rural residence outside Putignano. The decor was amazing as well as the family that was running the place. Overall, the landscape of the Puglian region was amazing. The typical “white stone” architechture and special “Trulli” houses capture an unforgetable mediterranean memento. We visited also the cities of Alberobello and Polignano a Mare.

On the project, we tried to cook a meal of different nation in a workshop, learned and tried how to bake a traditional putignanese pastry, ate pizza, tried to invent a new dish from different national ingrediences, went for a bike trip to see local farms and taste their products, visited different cities and leared about the importance of (not only) local sustainable agriculture. It was a very interesting (and delicious 🙂 ) experience and made us think about the role of agriculture and its methods and about our national culinary heritage that should not be forgotten. We made new contacts and opened new doors for future cooperation.
We also partied, made new friends and had tons of fun. Overall, it was agreat experience and I am sure that one day I will come back to the South of Italy and its farms.
