Project report:
The youth exchange entitled Digital vs Corrupt was organized by EPEKA from 19 to 26 May. The project brought together more than 60 participants from 12 countries. The amazing Czech team consisted of five participants – Tomáš, Natálie, Hana, Jantette, and Zbyněk. Throughout the project, we were guided by the organizing team, Belma and Zoran.
The accommodation was located in the beautiful small Montenegrin town of Berane, surrounded by mountains and situated approximately two hours from the capital city, Podgorica. We stayed in local secondary school dormitories, which provided everything we needed during our stay. Participants were accommodated in single, double, or triple rooms. Meals were served in the dormitory canteen and were very good.
The project focused on combating corruption in the European Union and the Western Balkans through the use of digital tools and the empowerment of young people. Its aim was to increase the ability of young people, youth workers, and civil society organizations to recognize and fight corruption, develop their knowledge and skills, promote European Union values, and strengthen the use of information and communication technologies in detecting corruption. The project also encouraged dialogue between civil society and political decision-makers in order to contribute to the promotion of democracy, the rule of law, and active citizenship, particularly in the countries of the Western Balkans.
As for the programme, it was divided into a morning and an afternoon block. During the morning sessions, we participated in workshops mainly focused on identifying corruption and expanding our knowledge of anti-corruption practices. Afternoons were dedicated to free time and informal activities. During the project, the organizers also arranged two excursions for us: one to the stunning Komovi National Park and another to Biogradska Gora National Park.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the project and would like to thank the organizers and EYCB for providing us with this excellent opportunity to participate.
