Project information:

Training course “The Role of Youth Work in Extreme Societies” connected together 24 people of 12 nationalities – people with different cultural, but most of all unique individual experiences, met each other in Armenian city Dilijan. What was common – a passion to share and to get inspired from each other.

Structure of the week-long course was divided into two halves. Every day there was a morning and an evening programme – separated by lunch and break after. All the topics of the course were linked with the main issue: rising of extremism and radicalization in nowadays Europe and the world in general.

Group started with defining of main concepts and ideas. Trainers led the participants through topics like politics, populism, media literacy, propaganda, radicalization, and many others. At the end of the week, all the participants put together texts reflecting experiences from their own home organizations and backgrounds.

There were also some other possibilities how to get to know each other better. Whether it was intercultural evening, an evening trip to nearby Sevan lake, or all the coffee-breaks during the main programme. As the output of the course, all the participants got the task to have a workshop, seminar or any other kind of presentation in their home local community. For me, it was among other things, an opportunity to share the enthusiasm and good experience with European project like this. It is always worth to spend time with people who share the same passion as you do.
