Content of this thematic awareness training (TaT):
In an increasingly diverse and interconnected world, trainers, facilitators, youth workers, and volunteers are often called to create learning spaces that respond to the varied needs, backgrounds, and identities of their participants. These differences—whether cultural, social, religious, related to gender or sexual identity—are not obstacles to learning, but opportunities to design inclusive, respectful, and empowering environments.
What is this TaT about:
This 8-day training course, developed in the framework of Ofensiva Tinerilor’s accredited Erasmus+ project, is designed to equip professionals in the youth field with the competences to create, adapt, and facilitate learning environments and methodologies that are truly inclusive.
Through a balanced mix of theoretical grounding, experiential practice, and personal reflection, the course embraces the principles of non-formal education and aims to build the confidence and skillset needed to navigate diversity with intention and care.
Training objectives:
- To increase awareness of the various dimensions of diversity in learning settings (cultural, social, religious, gender, sexual identity, etc.).
- To understand key concepts such as inclusive education, intersectionality, and safe spaces.
- To explore the impact of bias, privilege, and systemic discrimination in educational settings.
- To develop and adapt non-formal education methodologies to be inclusive of diverse learning needs and experiences.
- To practice facilitation strategies that foster inclusion, participation, and learning for all.
- To reflect on one’s own role and responsibility in shaping inclusive educational spaces.
Good to know:
Participants should be actively involved in youth work, either as staff members or volunteers of the sending organization.
All applicants must be affiliated with a sending organization, which will be required to sign an agreement between partners prior to the participant’s departure. This agreement will formalize our partnership and include a statement confirming the participant’s role as a youth worker.
Selection will be based on participants’ motivation and their commitment to engaging in the training as part of a meaningful learning journey.
