Popis dobrovolnické příležitosti:

Description

For this project we’re looking for 6 participants between the ages of 18 and 30 to join us in a project focused on sustainability and natural building. Working in the mountains of Tramonti, a village on the Amalfi Coast, you’ll help finalize an eco-building in the forest that teaches about living in nature, outdoor and experiential learning, and sustainable practices. You’ll have the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of urban life and immerse yourself in nature, while working and living in a community. In this project, participants will support the development of an eco center located in a chestnut forest together with other activities in the area related to the season like collecting seasonal fruit and vegetables in the community garden. This project is based on the work done in previous projects that happened in 2023-2024. Please mind that travel days will be 25th September and 24th of November; for Green travel there are more travel days.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Participants will stay in an apartment with all facilities, sharing the room with other 3-4 people. There will be a walking distance to get to the work site and the nearest grocery shop. For food supply, the participant will get a monthly budget of 100 EUR + fresh goods coming from the community garden and community grocery provided by the organisation. Travel costs will be reimbursed according to the ESC guidelines. Travel budget can be slightly higher than for Green travel (according to the ESC guide).

Training during the activity

Participants will be introduced and guided through all activities. They will learn practical skills on natural building techniques and farming. Learning outcomes include understanding of sustainable living and permaculture principles, teamwork and community life and resilience.

Participant profile

We are looking for participants that are ready to embrace community living, not intimidated by living away from urban areas and to get their hands dirty while working in nature. Participants should also be prepared for physical work. Previous experience is helpful for this project. Participants will need to be available for the exact activity period.

Description of the project:

This team volunteering opportunity is part of a larger project (2023-2024) with the objective of creating an educational center in the forest that teaches about living in nature, outdoor and experiential learning, sustainability, natural building, and permaculture.

In this phase, which will take place from 25th of September to 24th of November, participants will help finalize a part of the hobbit house, a tree house and a kitchen, together with other activities related to the season in a chestnut forest.

Volunteers will undertake TASKS such as:

– collecting or recycling, shaping and peeling the wood,
– transporting materials and organising the storage,
– building part of the infrastructure needed for the workshop
– other activities to develop the existing structure.

Moreover they will participate in:

– activities aimed at preserving the chestnut forest (e.g. cutting grass, preparing the area for the chestnuts..)
– collecting chestnuts
– activities in the community garden
– other minor activities.

Objectives:

Learn natural building techniques and gain practical skills while working with youth from different cultures.
• Develop teamwork, leadership, and communication skills through collaborating on a building project in a natural environment.
• Gain a deeper understanding of sustainable living and permaculture principles, and how they can be integrated into daily life.
• Foster a sense of community and social responsibility, while learning about different cultures and perspectives.
• Increase confidence, self-reliance, and adaptability through living in a rural area with youth from different countries.
