You will be involved in: Recreational and cultural activities for children and teens, both from local and migrants communities through: games, expressive, handicraft and creative workshops, sports activities, language workshops, exhibitions, concerts etc. You will participate in all planned activities, including field trips, visits, and excursions. Raising awareness and intercultural activities such as seminars, conferences, workshops, awareness-raising campaigns and thematic days on interculturalism, anti-racism, human rights, and events such as the “World Refugee Day” and all the “International Week Against Racism”. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
You will live in a shared flat together with other volunteers, in the city of Melendugno. The flat has a full equipped kitchen, so the volunteers can prepare their meals by themselves. You will receive a monthly allowance for food. All places where the project activities will take place are within walking distance. The same applies to supermarkets, pharmacies and shops. Should further distances be necessary, Terzo Millennio will organise transports accordingly. Volunteers will be provided with a local public transport pass, with which they can also reach Lecce, and a bike.
Training during the activity
Volunteers will participate in an orientation and welcome training during the first week of the project in order to get to know the association, the territory, and to familiarise themselves with the staff and other volunteers. They will also receive specific on-the-spot and practical training on the activities they will carry out, in order to master the tools and instruments used, and also to be able to propose new ideas at the same time. Finally, volunteers will attend Italian language courses in order to be able to interact more easily in the local context and during the activities.
Participant profile
Volunteers do not need to have any specific skills or diploma to join us, but be interested in the topics and activities of the project. We expect active and motivated volunteers who enjoy working with children and young people and who like contact with people. They must be willing to get involved, be flexible, patient and ready to work with people from other countries and other cultures. They must also feel free to propose activities other than those planned and must be prepared to be an active part of the project. We would like volunteers to be ready to share your culture and passions with us, and to learn as much as you can from this experience. We are sure that their contribution to our community will be very important and, at the same time, we are sure that this experience will be enriching for them as well.
