Venti di Scambio is an association of social promotion  founded in 2009 located in the city of Conversano, in the region of Puglia. The NGO was opened thanks to a call from the Puglia Region “Principi attivi”. The objectives are:

– promote active citizenship of young people;
– promote solidarity, tolerance and understanding between different cultures;
– create a network both at a local level (schools, associations, administrations) and at an international level;
– give young people the opportunity to have a space where they can develop new skills and participate more in community life;
– create an increasingly large number of young people interested in European issues;
– raise young people’s awareness of respect for the environment;
– increase youth employment and consequently local development and progress.

The association’s activities are workshops on active citizenship and sustainable development; youth exchanges, intercultural workshops, local and international training courses, environmental workshops. Furthermore we carry out permanently the following activities:
– management of the info-Europa, an online platform providing information to young people  on mobility opportunities abroad offered by the EU;
– management of CAOS LAB, a space dedicated to young people, entrepreneurs, craftsmen and anyone who wants to learn, and create ideas, thanks to the continuous amount  of knowledge shared by the experts and experiences from all over the world. In CAOS LAB anyone can learn how to use the digital tools available (3D printers, 3D scanner, CNC pantograph, Arduino), but also machine tools for iron and wood craft. From 2021 CAOS LAB is a PRECIOUS PLASTIC center, a place that   collects plastic caps and thanks to several   machines transform the plastic into new objects.. The activities that the volunteers will be called to carry out are, in short:

• promotion of the NGO activities at schools and on the territory, about innovational workshops and EU projects;
• support in daily life activity of CAOS LAB: collect plastic cups from schools and associations and transform them; support in workshops of 3D design and 3D printing.
• documentation of the activities and update the association’s website and social channels; 
• participate in the training regarding digital competences and development of personal and professionals skills;

Dates: 23 September 2024, for 9 months

Hosting conditions
The two volunteers will live in and apartment in the city of Conversano. The space is shared between 2 person. The flat is near  to the hosting organization. The apartment is self-managed by the persons who life inside (cleaning, shopping, cooking) and everyone needs to follow basic rule. No party, no guests, personal care of the hosting space. Every volunteer hosted within ESC program receive on a monthly basis pocket money (5€ per day, about 150 euro) and food money (200 euro).

CONVSERANO IS …. a town rich in history and art. It was created between the eighth and sixth centuries BC with the name of Norba. It reached its peak between the fourteenth and the eighteenth century under the rule of the Acquaviva d’Aragona.The most famous was earl Giangirolamo the II, named  “guercio di Puglia”, a man described as violent and ruthless, but also  a man who loved art. There are many legends associated with him (Ex: Jus primae noctis). There are many monuments to visit: the medieval castle, the romanesque cathedral, the monastery of San Benedetto in addition to the beautiful historic center. It is also interesting to visit the archaeological site of Castiglione at about 3 km from the town. From the point of view of entertainment Conversano has several possibilities: 2 cinemas, one of which “La casa delle arti” has a literary café, which  periodically organizes meetings, readings  and concerts.

There are also several pubs, mostly located in the historical center, where in both summer and winter it is possible to enjoy live music. For many years Conversano organized “Imaginaria film festival”, a festival of short movies and Lector in Fabula, a festival of journalism.

Conversano is situated in a strategic position: it is near to the sea: 6 km from Cozze, a small village that in summer is the favorite beach for most of the population of Conversano and neighboring villages and that has many beautiful coasts. The city’s economy is based on agriculture and trade, even if for a few years it is also very focused on tourism such as the large number of bed and breakfasts, hotels, restaurants.

We are searching for a person who is very social and wants to interact with various types of people, interested in supporting the staff of Venti di scambio in their main activities linked with innovation (3D design and 3D printing); sustainable development, supporting the staff in the activity of recycling and transformation of plastic; supporting the staff during the workshops in the schools and on the territory; high flexibility; aged 20-30, with a good knowledge of English and minimum basic level of Italian; interested in field of digital instruments, art and creativity.
