Popis projektu:

The Story

The stories we tell – to ourselves and others – shape our reality. Stories Weave is a project that aims to empower youth workers to use storytelling as a tool to support queer young people. At its heart, the project recognizes that queer young people’s lives are made of many intersecting threads, identities, struggles, joys, and dreams. Storytelling and stories themselves offer a way to honor those threads and weave them together into a fabric of belonging, empowerment, and community strength.

Each story is important on its own, but it is even more powerful when woven together with others.

This is our second edition of the training programme, in which we blend together storytelling and queer education. It is a project about stories of empowerment, inclusion and acknowledgment for/about/with the LGBTQIA+/queer community and allies.

This edition emphasizes on interconnection, creativity and community equipping youth workers with necessary tools in creating safer spaces where queer and other marginalized voices (people from intersectional backgrounds) can be heard, valued, and celebrated.

With Stories Weave we want to experience storytelling and its tools in order to learn, train and boost these resources.

In this learning programme we want to share with everyone involved a collective journey of self-discovery and on personal and professional growth to build positive and lasting change in our lives and in the lives of those we work with.

Stories Weave is a holistic learning journey offering a creative space for queer and allies youth workers to explore storytelling as a tool to increase the quality of their youth work and work with queer youth.

During this programme and its different phases, you have the opportunity to experience a dynamic, inclusive and celebratory learning environment, where we focus on empowering participants with the necessary competencies (knowledge, skills and attitudes) for engaging young queer and allies individuals actively, encouraging them to participate, and take initiatives in activities and society at large.

Through storytelling methodologies Stories Weave aims to be a playground to give shape to empowering narratives. We will create spaces and experiences to express and acknowledge stories that need to be told and heard: stories that celebrate queer joy and diversity, that acknowledge humanity as a common trait, that empower to face obstacles and generate accountability, that inspire to act and choose empathy, that guide us into overcoming pain, and foster inclusion.

We will work with traditional stories, personal stories and with oral storytelling as means of expression.

If you want to participate in this training progamme keep in mind that you are asked to participate actively and accordingly in all its three phases.

Learning approach

This learning program follows an experiential learning approach and is highly participatory and interactive, giving you the chance for self-reflection and self-evaluation. This approach involves learning by doing and peer to peer learning (learning from each other).

Programme elements:

In Stories Act, you are the actor of your own learning & creator of your own experience within the given group. The outcome of your experience depends solely on you while guided and supported by the facilitators/trainers in correlation to the rest of the group.

The working hours vary according to the needs of the group and the programme. There are morning, afternoon and at times evening sessions and we will be working 8 to 10 hours daily accordingly. Please note that the programme and the main activities do not include touristic trips and free days, therefore in case you are interested in such possibilities we invite you to plan them for yourself by arranging (on your own costs) some days before or after the Training Course.

Learning Methods:

• Storytelling tools and methods, working with emotions through stories, voice and body awareness.
• Personal Development tools and approaches, LGBTQIA+/queer case studies and educational elements.
• Support Care Groups for peer consultations and daily self-reflection.
• Spaces for open discussions, debates and sharing in different groups.
• Peer learning approach – working in pairs, trios, small or big groups.
• Intercultural learning, being in nature and using the surroundings of the venue to the benefit of our well-being.

In this programme you will:

  • Discover the approach of storytelling and its methods, and learn how to use it in youth work, in experiential learning and in working with LGBTQIA+ youth and/other vulnerable and intersectional groups;
  • Learn to create context for inclusion through stories, setting safer and braver spaces for expression;
  • Become better able to empower your target groups to express their views and experiences, becoming more active in society;
  • Reflect on your own motivation, both personal and professional: what drives you, inspires and moves you forward in life and in your youth work;Release your creativity, joy, spontaneity;
  • Reflect and enhance your own competencies and knowledge on the addressed topics;
  • Navigate and explore your limits, responding to challenges, expanding your learning zones;

Youthpass: During the project, you will also receive the Youthpass certification. It is a recognition instrument for non-formal and informal learning, used within the Erasmus+ projects.

We will be actively nurturing these attitudes:

  • Empowerment: giving voice to meaningful stories and diverse experiences
  • Care: taking the needs and feelings of every member of the group into account, including yourself
  • Accountability: finding your own voice and using it to spread relevant stories
  • Inclusion: finding the way to express your own voice in the collective, and to welcome the voices of others
