Popis projektu:

“Seven Notes One Peace” is a Youth Exchange that will take place in Pachino, Sicily. This project will involve 30 participants (1 group leader + 4 participants) from 6 countries: Italy, The Nederlands, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Spain and Lithuania.

The main topic of the project is the debate on War and Peace. In the latest years, young people have to lived with the anxiety caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the Israeli-Palestine conflict. As any generation, also this one have to relate with wars, with all the political and philosophical implications. Artists have always write lyrics and composed album in which they explore topics like conflict, human nature, imperialism and so on. This project will give the possibility to do the same, in a safe and creative environment

This will be achieved in an artistic way: Young people, with the help of Youth Workers and the logistical support of Dalek Studios, will create a 10-tracks album from the scratch, in which through Non formal Education tools, will voice up their experiences and their hope for the future. The album will be distributed by Jamendo and it will be free for the legal and free download.

Why “Seven Notes, One Peace”?

We chose this name because expresses the possibility of using just 7 notes in order to discuss about a topic that involve several others. The cooperation of 25 young people to create a tangible result (a music album) helping their organisation to process the negatives experiences of the last years marked by International conflicts, giving voice to young people on this topic and provide their point of view on this political issue. Seven Notes, One Peace wants to achieve that through music language. This leads to non-formal education activities based on jam session, songwriting workshop, concerts and recording an album during this Youth Exchange.

The project aims to:

  • provide the young musicians and singers, experience in recording, cooperative songwriting and concert management;
  • give them the opportunity to explore feeling and process memories after the pandemic;
  • Explore the inequity, stereotypes, racial prejudices who appears during the harshest phases of the pandemic, who involved mainly, but not only, Asian people and Chinese in particular.

These objectives will be achieved through methods of nonformal education, group discussion, open air activities, recording session, songwriting workshops.
