Objectives
We want to carry out the „Act for Democracy“ training course project because we see a critical need to empower youth workers and youth leaders with the tools and knowledge to foster active citizenship, democracy, and human rights, especially among young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. As democratic values and human rights face increasing challenges worldwide, it is essential to equip those who work directly with youth to address these issues effectively.
Young people, particularly those with fewer opportunities, are often marginalized in political and social decision-making processes. They lack the confidence, resources, and understanding to engage meaningfully in civic life. This project aims to bridge that gap by building the capacities of youth workers to empower young people to actively participate in their communities, advocate for human rights, and contribute to democratic processes.
By bringing together youth workers and leaders from participating countries, this project will create a collaborative space for exchanging best practices, enhancing skills, and fostering cross-cultural dialogue. The online Toolbox created as the main output will provide long-lasting, practical resources that can be used to promote democracy and active citizenship across Europe. We also aim to strengthen cooperation among partner organizations to facilitate future collaboration and enhance the impact of youth work in promoting democratic values and active citizenship.
Activities
„Act for Democracy“ training course will be implemented between 16-25 February 2026 in Brezice/Slovenia. Slovenia, Germany, Türkiye, North Macedonia, Belgium, Latvia, Romania and Czech Republic are participating countries in this training course.
Impact
Participants will gain practical skills and knowledge in promoting democracy, active citizenship, and human rights, which they can apply in their youth work. They will be better equipped to engage young people in their communities, fostering a culture of active citizenship and encouraging youth participation in civic life. The project will promote intercultural dialogue and understanding among participants, leading to stronger collaborations and networks across different countries. The online Toolbox will serve as a valuable resource for youth workers, providing innovative tools and methods to facilitate active citizenship among young people. By empowering youth workers and creating a network of engaged organizations, the project will contribute to lasting change in promoting democratic values and active citizenship in the participating countries.
