Popis projektu:

This 12 days training course will consist in learning the techniques of the Theatre of the Oppressed (Image Theatre, Forum Theatre, Invisible Theatre, role of the Joker, theatrical improvisation, etc.) with daily situations lived by the participants as the subject for reflection in order to create sketches.

Together, we will discover and get trained in a tool for collective reflection and mediation: Theatre of the Oppressed. A real tool for social linking that stimulates community dialogue and conflict resolution, Theatre of the Oppressed is a participative and social tool that enables the implementation of spaces for citizen dialogue having a real life problem as topic, and facilitates the search of collective solutions.

During the project, we will try to understand the mechanisms, tools, places and projects which are available with the use of Theatre of the Oppressed to practise our role as a citizen in our respective countries and, on a wider scale, in Europe. The program includes activities for encountering the other and practise of all the branches of the Theatre of the Oppressed : Image Theatre, Forum Theatre, Invisible Theatre, Community theatre, theatrical improvisation and training on the delicate role of the joker (the mediator).

To complete this training, we will visit local markets in order to collect the voice of the citizens and we will create a multidisciplinary ephemeral exposition which will represent the testimonies collected in the market.

We will close the training with a Forum Theatre play open to the public, created by the participants during the project. This will enable them to implement the new competences gained during the training.

Our main aim is to empower all the participants to come back to their communities and facilitate workshops about Theatre of the Oppressed in their work, their associations, etc. so as to solve conflicts, to become actors of the necessary mediation around them, and to put an end to the situations of oppression that we all face in our daily life, both as witnesses or victims.

We hope as well to make the participants aware about popular education being one of the means to get a bit more involved in the daily life of our European societies. While creating debates and discussion forums, we will enable collective decision-making.

Participants' profile:

We are not looking for a specific profile, we want our participants to be motivated and to commit to organise some workshops after the training course (hopefully with the support of the partner organisation). We welcome newcomers in Theatre of the Opressed since the training is a first approach to this methodology, so they don't need to have worked with it before. Then, people that are aware and feel ready to live together, cook and act as a community, as we wrote in the infopack.
