Popis projektu:
The Thematic Awareness Training – Peers for Diversity – is based on a peer education methodology, where the topics of diversity, interculturalism, and anti-discrimination are addressed and discovered.
The Training Course is addressing youth workers and trainers, offering them theoretical and practical tools to use when training and organizing activities on the topic of diversity.
Participants‘ profile: trainers, facilitators, mentors, educators, and volunteers actively involved in youth work.
Ofensiva Tinerilor is proud to host an in-person Thematic Awareness Training dedicated to Diversity and Anti-Bias Education. Designed for youth workers, educators, and facilitators from across Erasmus+ Programme Countries, this immersive experience will provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools to promote tolerance, inclusion, and respect for diversity in their local communities.
Why This Training Matters
In an increasingly interconnected yet divided world, bias, stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination continue to fuel social exclusion, marginalization, and conflict. Many young people are influenced by societal norms, misinformation, and cultural biases, often leading to fear, misunderstanding, and rejection of those who are different. The Peers for Diversity programme seeks to break down these barriers by empowering youth workers with effective methods to challenge stereotypes, address prejudice, and promote a culture of acceptance and inclusion. Through this training, participants will:
– Understand the mechanisms behind stereotypes and bias—how they form, why they persist, and how they can be deconstructed.
– Explore the different dimensions of discrimination, from race and ethnicity to gender, religion, and socioeconomic status.
– Learn non-formal education techniques that encourage critical thinking, empathy, and intercultural dialogue among young people.
– Gain hands-on experience with peer education approaches, recognizing the power of young people learning from each other.
– Develop strategies to create inclusive environments in youth organizations, schools, and communities.
Our Approach
At Ofensiva Tinerilor, we believe that learning happens best in an interactive, engaging, and participatory way. That’s why this training is based on non-formal education methodologies, including:
– Experiential learning – hands-on activities that allow participants to experience and reflect on different aspects of diversity and bias.
– Peer education techniques – empowering participants to share knowledge and learn from each other through discussions, storytelling, and real-life case studies.
– Role-playing and simulations – helping participants step into different perspectives to understand the impact of discrimination.
By creating a safe and supportive learning environment, we encourage participants to challenge their own biases, confront difficult topics, and become ambassadors for diversity and inclusion in their personal and professional lives.
The programme Peers for Diversity, was developed by Ofensiva Tinerilor and partners under the guidance of the European Peer Training Organisation, in which we also a member. Complete methodologies, can be found on our website. We encourage our participants to check them out and use them if they consider them useful and we hope they do 🙂 Here is the link where you can find all the methodologies in English: https://ofetin.ro/programele-
