Popis projektu:
The project „From Awareness to Action: Enhancing Emotional Intelligence in Youth Work“ focuses on the importance of emotional intelligence in youth work. Emotional intelligence is one of the key elements in youth work as it allows youth workers to understand and effectively respond to the emotional needs of young people. It helps in building positive relationships with young people, promotes empathy and active listening, and enables youth workers to recognize and manage their own emotions and reactions to challenging situations, by providing a safe and supportive environment for young people to express their feelings and develop coping mechanisms. Therefore, emotional intelligence is essential in providing effective and holistic support to young people and plays a critical role in the overall quality of each individual’s life (both in the personal and professional sphere) and consequently in the overall quality of social interactions.
Objectives:
- To overcome the excess judgments on society by strengthening emotional intelligence
- To raise awareness about emotional intelligence
- To overcome compassion fatigue
- To develop constructive coping mechanisms
- To improve recognition, understanding, and management of emotions
Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize, understand, and manage emotions; both our own and those of other people around us. Emotional intelligence is much more than soft skills; it contains essential skills which are vital in any profession. Our emotional intelligence dictates how we, as youth workers, manage ourselves, how we deal with people, how effectively or ineffectively we communicate, how well we handle feedback and setbacks, etc. In the field of youth work, developing emotional intelligence is critical not only for the benefit of youth workers, but it is key to effectively supporting the youth with whom we work.

- Psychologists, pedagogues, or any other individual who has a profession in emotional intelligence but doesn’t have an experience in youth work, but wants to involve in youth work.
Main Activities:
One of the key elements behind our different learning styles and levels is our differences. We designed our activities accordingly to Kolb’s model, which is based on the Experiential Learning Theory, which is one of the most accepted and used contents in learning. The stages of this learning cycle include:
- Experiencing real or lifelike
- Analysis of the actual experience and sharing of feelings about the experience
- Associating the inferences made with daily life
- Using the information obtained as a result of association in real life
like to apply it. Then, we apply what we’ve learned in the real world. Finally, we reflect on the experience and figure out where we could improve. Our activities are designed to follow these stages when discovering the role and importance of emotional intelligence in youth work.
It has been proven through experience and research that individuals of all ages can be taught to cultivate emotional intelligence. The benefits of this training include improved leadership abilities, stronger relationships, better conflict resolution skills, and higher academic performance in individuals compared to those who do not receive such training. A meta-analysis of 213 studies conducted by the Max-Planck Society on various social and emotional learning programs showed similar results.
AS A RESULT OF THE MOBILITY, THE LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE 30 PARTICIPANTS WILL:
- Self-motivation
- Productivity
- Commitment to the profession
- Confidence and flexibility
- Empathy
- Communication skills
- Long-lasting and strong interpersonal relationships – personal and professional
- Self-awareness and self-control
- Understanding and regulation of emotions at the individual level
- Understanding and managing emotions at the group level
- Awareness of and willingness to work with emotions outside the group.
- Comprehend methods to avoid and resolve conflicts using „social and emotional learning“ (SEL) skills
