Popis projektu:
“RESCONNECT” is a youth exchange mobility project, that will be implemented in Selianitika and is organized by young people from Greece, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Portugal, Romania and Czech Republic. In total 30 young participants and 2 facilitators will participate in the activity.
The goal is to foster diversity and inclusion practices and contribute to the advancement of equal opportunities in workplaces and of people’s awareness. This is to be achieved by increasing the involvement of the youth sector in the subject matter and enhancing its capacity to advocate for diversity within work environments.
Specifically, the project aims to:
- increase and disseminate knowledge on the field and raise youth workers’ awareness and sensitization about circular economy principles and climate change
- Enhance their ability to cultivate welcoming, inclusive, and accessible youth organizations.
- Expand the knowledge of youth workers regarding workplace diversity and underscore its significance.
- Bolster the knowledge and skills of youth workers in the promotion of inclusive workplace environments and working with diverse target groups, thereby fostering an inclusive culture within the job market.
- Foster collaboration and mutual understanding between youth workers and organizations from diverse countries.
About the project:
In light of the critical global challenges posed by climate change, it has become imperative to prioritize projects that revolve around the concepts of a circular economy and environmental protection. These challenges demand immediate attention and concerted efforts to mitigate their adverse impacts.
The primary objective of this project is to address these pressing environmental issues by advancing circular economy principles and promoting environmental stewardship, both at the local and global levels.
The urgency behind this project is deeply rooted in the need to counter the adverse effects of unsustainable resource consumption and contribute to the broader fight against climate change. The environmental challenges that this project aims to tackle are multifaceted including resource depletion,
overconsumption. food loss and waste as well as the proliferation of electronic waste.
While transitioning to a more circular world is feasible, it is not without its complexities. Several obstacles must be overcome and the youth workers can be and should be the “drivers” of this change in order to promote and better satisfy the needs of the society and environment. Apart from time, financial investment, knowledge sharing, community engagement, and training throughout the entire transitional phase, the primary challenge lies in the limited awareness and understanding of circular economy principles among the population. Not all countries and businesses are well-informed about the potential of the circular economy, nor have they established strategies to promote its implementation. Even if the implementation of circular economy practices were made simpler, evaluating their impact can be challenging due to issues related to tracking and reporting.
Project aims:
- Increase and disseminate knowledge on the field and raise youth workers’ awareness and sensitization about circular economy principles and climate change
- Promote sustainable consumption practices withing the communities of young individuals
- Encourage the adoption of sustainable consumption practices among youngsters, communities, and industries
- Foster collaboration and mutual understanding between youth workers and organizations from diverse countries.
