Popis projektu:

From principles to practice: A non-formal learning lab

This TC is designed for youth workers, educators, trainers, and others engaged in youth work who want to deepen their understanding of non-formal education and explore innovative ways to create meaningful learning experiences for young people.

“From principles to practice: A non-formal learning lab” is a 6-day international training course that provides a dynamic and reflective space for participants to explore the core principles of NFE and how to apply them in practice. Through hands-on activities, experiential learning, and group collaboration, participants will learn more about  different approaches to learning, facilitation and methods, and co-create workshops in an open and supportive environment.

Throughout the course, participants will work with the concept of the learning zones, reflect on their learning using the Youthpass process, and experiment with tools that make NFE powerful, relevant, and inclusive. The programme combines theory with practice, and includes peer-to-peer learning, creativity, critical thinking, and space for innovation.

The training is aligned with European Youth Goal #8: Quality Learning, and supports youth workers to offer impactful learning opportunities that are learner-centered, accessible, and based on the values of participation and inclusion.

The training course is based on non-formal education and learning-by-doing methodologies. It follows a flow that starts with group-building and orientation and moves toward hands-on practice and reflection.

The first day focuses on welcoming participants, getting to know each other, and creating a safe learning environment. The following days explore the principles of non-formal education, experiential learning, and other models. Participants will engage in sessions on youth work innovation, explore the links with European Youth Goals, and have the opportunity to design their own workshops. The last days offer space for practical implementation, peer feedback, reflection on lessons learned, and thinking how to transfer learning into local contexts.

Daily reflection rounds help consolidate learning throughout the course.

Objectives:

  • Explore and deepen the core principles and values of non-formal education (NFE) and their relevance in youth work practice;
  • Deepen understanding of SEL (social-emotional learning) for NFE activities in youth work practice
  • Enhance participants’ competencies in designing and facilitating experiential learning activities tailored to diverse groups;
  • Foster self-awareness and reflection in non-formal education processes;
  • Encourage innovation and critical thinking about the future of NFE in changing youth work realities;
  • Create a collaborative learning environment that supports intercultural dialogue, peer learning, and the exchange of practices.

This training course is designed for youth workers, educators, trainers, and others engaged in youth work who want to deepen their understanding of non-formal education (NFE), strengthen their facilitation skills, and explore innovative ways to create meaningful learning experiences for young people.
