Popis projektu:

Queer Circus: training course against gender and sexual orientation discrimination

Circus Pedagogy project as a tool for youth work against gender discrimination

is an initiative co-funded by the European Community, within the framework of the Erasmus+ Program.
This training course, implemented by Arcigay Taranto, aims to provide youth workers and LGBTQIA+ activists with the skills and tools necessary to fight gender discrimination through circus arts, theatre and non-formal education.

Palazzo Ulmo: a place for meeting and learning

From May 25th to June 2nd, 25 LGBTQIA+ youth workers and activists will gather at Palazzo Ulmo, a cultural center in Via Duomo 53/55, in the historic center of Taranto, to participate in a unique artistic and training residency.
During this period, sessions dedicated to a wide range of topics will be conducted, including identity and history of the LGBTQIA+ movement, and participants will experience juggling, acrobalance, other circus disciplines and theatre.

The training team consists of Anja from Slovenia, Denis from France and local activist Lu.

A celebration of art and diversity
In addition to the training sessions, a special performance dedicated to children will be offered, providing them with a unique and engaging experience in circus art.
Furthermore, a workshop specifically designed to engage very young participants will be organized to promote listening, understanding and appreciation of the diversities that each person carries.

The Taranto Pride: a moment of celebration and solidarity
The culmination of the training course will coincide with the Taranto Pride parade, which will take place on June 1st.
During this event, participants will have the opportunity to put into practice what they have learned during the course, showing the world the importance of circus art as a tool for inclusion and social change.

A united international community
The project would not be complete without the contribution of people from different parts of Europe.
The course will become a real crossroads of cultures, ideas and experiences, thanks to the participation of 2 activists from each of the following countries: France, Germany, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia and Spain.
In conclusion, the Circus Pedagogy training course represents a unique opportunity for youth workers and LGBTQIA+ activists to acquire new skills, share experiences, and unite in a common struggle against discrimination and for the involvement of all marginalized groups.
Upon returning to their own countries, through circus art and pedagogy, they will be able to transform their communities and the world around them, promoting equality and solidarity.
