Popis projektu:

Project idea and description

«Forgotten craft of the future» is an exchange project based on the learning and transmission of knowledge and culture. Today’s society pushes us to lock ourselves in ourselves while always going faster, buying, consuming and throwing away while, more than ever, our planet needs to be saved a little in terms of its resources.

During this exchange, our wish is to discover the cultures of other countries, as well as the techniques and know-how of the forgotten trades while finding pleasure of creating or repairing things by oneself.

The concept of «Do it yourself» is very popular and we want to go even further. In our time, the tutorials are more numerous on the internet and, a lambda person who feels the desire can discover the necessary techniques for the repair of things of all kinds. During the exchange, we want to create a large laboratory in which we will (re) discover the techniques of repair and creation to develop a manual, a practical guide for children, teachers or facilitators. To do this, each participant can come to expose his knowledge, the methods he knows to share with others and discover new ones through workshops conducted sometimes by professionals, sometimes by enthusiasts to compile them in a practical book gathering an anthology  of techniques.

Of course, we want to take the time to discover each other, to understand each other’s cultures by organizing time for participants to present the dishes, habits, traditions and prides of their country. We will also have the opportunity to present Belgium through places where our country was built.

Through this project, young people will have the opportunity to ask questions, discuss our eating habits and our ways of life. Through this theme, we wish to promote the initiatives of young people but also tolerance, respect, group work, creativity and the joy of living together.

The objectives of our exchange are multiple and varied:

  • interculturality: the discovery of other cultures (through an international evening, the presentation of all countries, through debates and games), through stereotypes and to help each participant to forge his/her own opinion through what he/she did and experienced before, during and after the exchange;
  • have fun, create long-lasting (friendship) bonds between people from different countries, cultures, backgrounds, religions, etc., as well as learning through non-formal education;
  • development / learning of new skills, competencies (key) acquired during the project;
  • develop a local activity over the long term, notably through the actions of the Erasmus+program;
  • we hope that, thanks to this project, young participants will become active citizens, develop new activities, projects and be actors in our societies.

It is through various workshops, notably through the game but also the debate, as well as several non-formal activities, that all the participants will find their place within the project. It will be a question of imagining and creating together the actions and the pedagogical tools possible to challenge the local population on this problem.

Finally, we attach great importance to the fact that all our activities are non-formal and will advocate the active participation of each one in this project. We hope, through this project, we allow young people from 18 to 25 years to think out of the box, explore, try, create together, exchange to realize that we can change a lot of things in our everyday lives and thus help young people gain confidence and become active citizens in our society.

With the involvement of each participant / partner and every resource, we wish to learn to learn, create interest, and all this in a positive mood for each participant.

The exchange would take place in Belgium (Botassart-sur-Semois/ south of Belgium) from 31 of august to 11 September 2018. During these 11 days, the young people would have to share the culture, customs and traditions of their country, while working on a few actions to be taken to raise awareness of the issues central to the project.

Profile of participants:

  • Young dynamic people interested in the topic of freedom of speech, discrimination and culture
  • 5 participants (18 to 25 years old) + 1 leader
  • Language knowledge : English
  • Group size: 42 persons
